Matt's 27th!

Last night was a night for a celebration! Emily and Matt came out for a special dinner, to celebrate Matt's 27th birthday. We always enjoy a night with "the kids". It's nice they live so close to us - in Chicago - only 25 miles away. We had a fun evening, eating, drinking, visiting, and watching the crazy dogs.

Emily and her little 27 pounds of fury, Cohen.

We kept trying to get Cohen's attention, but apparently he was distracted! Probably by Dora. Still looks cute, though, doesn't he?

Scott, Emily, and Matt, who is about to cut the cake. Our family's tradition is to allow the birthday person pick the menu. We feasted on marinated flank steak, sweet potato casserole, bread, salad, and roasted asparagus. Then, as if we weren't already stuffed enough, we had flourless chocolate cake with freshly whipped cream for dessert.

Happy Birthday, Matt!

Happy New Year!

Happy new year!  Here's hoping for peace in our world!  A quote that I carry around with me is from my hometown pastor, from years ago -...
