Kristin & Adam's wedding - party on! and Happy Anniversary to us!

More wedding pictures from Kristin & Adam's wedding!  Their ceremony (see previous post) was in the historic Tivoli Theater, and they took their outdoor shots out back, next to this brick wall.  I love the urban chic look of it.

The reception was at a lovely golf course near here.  Their party room was beautiful and spacious, with golf course views on 3 sides.  And the tablescape was also lovely!  (always looking for wedding ideas - I have 3 daughters...)

Do you know what it means to "get Iced"?  If someone gives you an open bottle of Smirnoff Ice, which my daughter describes as alcoholic Fresca, you have to drop to one knee and chug it.  Sounds mostly like fun for the younger generation, right?  As a matter of face, the fun-loving bride and groom were iced at the reception, and they both obliged!
Then, later in the evening, an open bottle appeared at our table, and my husband, Scott, was up to the task! Who Iced him? The bride!

My lovely daughter, Emily, and her equally lovely boyfriend, Matt. It was so great having them close by this summer, as they both had internships in Chicago.  Now they are both back in Boston for their second and final year in graduate school. The plan is to return to Chicago after they graduate in May! 

We had such a great evening! And yesterday was OUR wedding anniversary - 35 years!!! How can this be?  They say that the days go slow, but the years go fast, and boy is that ever true.

Weekend Getaway!

We don't get do this very often - but Scott and I took a little weekend trip for our anniversary. 33 years go by very quickly, I'm telling you!

We found a cute bed and breakfast called Isabella's, in West Bend, Wisconsin. It was just lovely, in every way.

This was the view as we opened the door to our room. How could you NOT have sweet dreams in a room like this? And the fun thing is, this was very similar to the B&B we stayed in on our honeymoon.

Scott enjoying his delicious breakfast! We were served Strawberry Puff, Vegetable Quiche, Glazed Bacon, fruit garnish, juice and coffee.

Most of our daytime hours were spent exploring nearby Cedarburg, Wisconsin, a very old and charming town just north of Milwaukee. Totally accidentally, it was their Wine and Harvest Festival the same weekend! In addition to enjoying food and wine at their festival, we also visited their new Wisconsin Quilt Museum, which we got to by a hay ride. Only in Wisconsin!

Above, you can see the Pumpkin Race! They took 500 lb. (!) pumpkins, decorated and carved them out, then they CLIMBED INTO THEM, and raced them down their little river!!! Totally fun stuff!

Can you tell, we had a great weekend!!!

Inconceivable!

Inconceivable! That not only did this wonderful man agree to marry me, but also that he had stuck around for 32 years! He is the sweetest, kindest, most patient man in the world.

Inconceivable! That I have two daughters who are 20 and 24 years old! I love them both with the fierce love of a mama bear, and I am so proud of them that I can hardly stand it.

Inconceivable - that today, I have been married for 32 years! How on earth did that happen? On the one hand, it seems so long ago, and yet also just like it was yesterday, the day of our wedding. A beautiful, warm fall day in Minnesota, surrounded by family and friends, a most special day. Thank you, Scott, for being there for me that day and for every day since then. You are my rock and my life.
